The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Sergeant First Class [then Corporal] Yukio Yokoe (ASN: RA-37710049), United States Army, for gallantry in action as a member of Company C, 1st Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division, in action against an armed enemy in Korea. During an attack on enemy positions near Ching-dong-ni, Korea, on 19 September 1950, Sergeant First Class Yokoe was wounded. Despite his painful wound and heedless of the intense hostile automatic weapons and small; arms fire, he continued to lead his squad to attack the enemy and seize the objective. Sergeant First Class Yokoe’s dauntless courage, notable military ability and exemplary leadership were an inspiration to his men and reflected great credit upon himself and upheld the highest traditions of the United States Army.
