The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918 (amended by an act of July 25, 1963), takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to Sergeant First Class [then Staff Sergeant] Peter Joe Wilson, United States Army, for gallantry in action while engaged in military operations in Laos, as a member of Special Operations Augmentation, command and Control Detachment Central, 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne), 1st Special Forces, on 19 October 1970. His actions, without regard for his own safety, reflect great credit on himself and the Armed Forces of the United States.
