The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting a Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster in lieu of a Second Award of the Silver Star to Colonel (Infantry) Arthur Harrison Wilson, Jr., United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving as Commanding Officer of the 5th Regimental Combat Team, 24th Infantry Division, in Korea, on 25 April 1951. Colonel Wilson led his men in a skillful retrograde movement out of an enemy trap in a narrow mountain pass near Pisi-Gol, Korea. During the savage conflict, he moved among his men shouting encouragement and giving such support as was possible, often firing his own weapon, killing and wounding many of the enemy who had managed to infiltrate through friendly lines. His utter disregard for personal safety and conspicuous display of brilliant leadership were a constant inspiration to his men. Colonel Wilson’s heroic actions, indomitable spirit, and outstanding devotion to his men, reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
