Headquarters, 3d Infantry Division, General Orders No. 164 (May 25, 1951)

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Corporal (then Private First Class] Coy Webb (ASN: RA-14330208), United States Army, for gallantry in action as a member of the Medical Company, 15th Infantry Regiment, 3d Infantry Division, in action against an armed enemy in Korea. On 13 February 1951, on Hill 291, south of Seoul, Korea, Corporal Webb was the medical aid man attached to the third platoon, Company C, 1st Battalion, 15th Infantry. The platoon, with the exception of one squad, was ordered from the southern slope of the hill as elements of an enemy regiment poured in heavy mortar fire from the south. Corporal Webb gallantly volunteered to remain on this exposed slope of the hill, where casualties were more likely due to the enemy shelling. With complete disregard for his personal safety, Corporal Webb dashed through the bursting shells to bring aid to the wounded men. Twelve seriously wounded men were quickly and efficiently aided by the medical skill of Corporal Webb. The gallantry and devotion to duty displayed by Corporal Webb reflects great credit upon himself and the military service.
