The Secretary of the Army of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Army Commendation Medal with Combat “V” to Captain Edward Napoliello, United States Army, for valor on 7 April 2004 on FOB COOKE, Iraq. With Complete disregard for his own safety, Captain Napoliello was first to respond and treat the Task Force’s first casualties. Without Captain Napoliello’s calm demeanor in a chaotic environment and his merciful efforts the enemy mortar attack could have been more costly. Captain Napoliello’s efforts were directly responsible for the saving of a casualty’s life. Captain Napoliello’s efforts bring great credit to the Ghost Battalion, the 39th Brigade Combat Team, and the United States Army.
