(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Second Lieutenant (Infantry) Leo C. Tynan, United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving as an artillery observer of the 613th Field Artillery Battalion, Mars Task Force, in action against the enemy on 2 February 1945, near Loi-Kang, Burma. After the commanding officer of Troop F, 12th Cavalry Regiment, Second Lieutenant Tynan took command of the troop. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Second Lieutenant Tynan, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
