    The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Sergeant Jimmie L. Todd (ASN: RA-14316620), United States Army, for gallantry in action as a member of Company C, 2d Engineer Combat Battalion, 2d Infantry Division, in action against an armed enemy on 28 November 1950 in the vicinity of Yongsu-dong, Korea. In the early morning hours of that date his company was under attack by an enemy force of great numerical superiority, utilizing small arms and mortar fire. Under Sergeant Todd’s courageous and inspiring leadership, his men were able to repel three powerful enemy assaults during a six hour period. When orders were received to withdraw, he remained behind to provide covering fire until his men had reached a new defensive position. As he withdrew to join his men, he assisted the wounded in moving back with him. The gallantry displayed by Sergeant Todd reflects the highest great upon himself is in keeping with the fine traditions of the military service.
