The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Corporal Sinfronio B. Tadena (ASN: US-50000353), United States Army, for gallantry in action as a member of Company K, 38th Infantry Regiment, 2d Infantry Division, in action against the enemy on 30 July 1951 in the vicinity of Taeusan, Korea. On this date after the company had taken a portion of their objective, they were dug in for the night. In the early morning hours Corporal Tadena sighted an enemy patrol approaching in the direction of the machine gun position. Corporal Tadena, with complete disregard for his personal safety, left his position to encounter the enemy. Exposing himself to intense enemy fire, he moved forward using marching fire with his automatic rifle, killing several while inflicting numerous casualties forcing the remainder to withdraw. His actions prevented the accomplishment of the enemy’s attempt to outflank the machine gun position and enabled friendly units to hold the perimeter of defense. The gallantry in action demonstrated by Corporal Tadena reflect great credit upon himself and the military service.
