The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Captain (Infantry) Stanley P. Swartz (ASN: 0-437971), United States Army, for gallantry in action as a member of Company K, 3d Battalion, 24th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division, in action against an armed enemy in Korea. On 29 September 1950, near Impa, Korea, when the advance guard of the regimental combat team was attacked by a large body of cleverly concealed enemy, Captain Swartz courageously led his company to attack the enemy position. By his personal valor, high degree of initiative and exemplary leadership, Captain Swartz was responsible for reducing an enemy road block and permitting the advance of the combat team to continue. His gallant actions reflect great credit upon himself and uphold the highest traditions of the Military Service of the United States.
