The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Private First Class Wilbur L. Suit (ASN: RA-13346270), United States Army, for gallantry in action as a member of Company B, 38th Infantry Regiment, 2d Infantry Division, in action against an armed enemy on 17 May 1951, in the vicinity of Panmegi-ri, Korea. On that date, when a large enemy force attacked the company positions and friendly troops were forced to withdraw, Private Suit voluntarily remained behind firing on the enemy continuously. His courageous action resulted in forty to sixty enemy dead and an unknown number of wounded. Private Suit was at the time wounded in both legs but continued to send a withering hail of fire at the enemy until his comrades reached new positions, before he himself disengaged and withdrew. The gallantry and outstanding devotion to duty displayed by Private Suit reflect great credit upon himself and uphold the highest traditions of the Military Service of the United States.
