The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Private First Class John H. Sosebee (ASN: RA-14342672), United States Army, for gallantry in action as a member of Medical Company, 19th Infantry Regiment, 24th Infantry Division, in action near Kyongju, Korea, on 10 September 1950. During an attack by a numerically superior enemy, the infantry company to which he was attached as Medical Aid Man suffered heavy casualties. Alone to tend to the medical needs of his company when all other aid men were evacuated as casualties, Private Sosebee continually exposed himself to the intense mortar and small arms fire to assist the wounded to a place of relative safety and there render vitally needed medical aid. When his supplies were depleted, he went forward through the withering fire to replenish his aid kit from those left behind by the evacuated aid men. His gallant actions and unhesitating devotion to duty won the respect of the entire infantry unit and reflects the greatest credit upon himself and the Army Medical Service.
