Headquarters, 25th Infantry Division, General Orders No. 153 (1951)

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Captain (Infantry) David Soolpover (ASN: 0-1172667), United States Army, for gallantry in action as a member of Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 24th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division, in action against an armed enemy in Korea. On 25 November 1950, near Ipsok, Korea, Captain Soolpover was leading the advance element of the command group through enemy-held territory to join the attack companies of the battalion. Contacting a large, well emplaced hostile force, he deployed his small group to maximum advantage and, despite intense small arms and mortar fire, moved throughout the area encouraging his men and directing their counterfire. By his aggressive leadership and sound tactical judgment, he was instrumental in containing the numerically superior enemy until reinforcements arrived. Captain Soolpover’s courage, initiative and steadfast devotion to duty reflect great credit upon himself and uphold the highest traditions of the United States Army.
