    The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Soldier’s Medal to Master Sergeant Skip Skolnik (ASN: 6931637), United States Army, for heroism involving voluntary risk of life not involving conflict with an armed enemy while serving with the ** Transport Squadron, *** Transport Group, at Eknes Field, Dakar, Senegal, French West Africa, on 19 June 1943. When a B-26 aircraft in taking off crashed and burst into flames, Sergeant Skolnik, who was working nearby, rushed to the scene of the accident and in the face of imminent danger of exploding ammunition and gasoline tanks entered the burning area and pulled the body of a crew member from the flames.
