The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Major General T’ang Shou-Chin, Chinese Army, for gallantry in action in India, in the North Burma Campaign, at Namyu, Kaihtik, and Namhkam, from 1 December 1944 to 15 January 1945. As Commanding General of the 30th Division, Chinese Army in India, he, at the risk of his life, chose to direct operations in the front lines under heavy enemy fire and unusual hazards of terrain. By personal leadership and brilliant generalship, he inspired his troops in the speedy capture of and sweeping victories of Namyu, Kaihtik, and Namhkam. The courage and devotion to duty displayed by General T’ang reflect highest credit on himself and exemplify the highest traditions of the Chinese armed forces.
