Headquarters, 25th Infantry Division, General Orders No. 107 (1950)

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Corporal Roy L. Schuyler (ASN: RA-17243681), United States Army, for gallantry in action as a member of Company E, 2d Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division, in action against an armed enemy in Korea. On 2 August 1950, Corporal Schuyler, who had been wounded in the arm, was being evacuated by litter jeep along with two non-ambulatory casualties. Because of the seriousness of the wounds of the latter, the jeep driver attempted to negotiate an enemy roadblock. In doing so, the jeep was hit, overturned and burst into flame, killing the assistant driver and gravely burning the driver. Corporal Schuyler quickly dragged one patient to cover, returned in the face of intense enemy fire to recover the other patient. Then, enlisting the aid of two friendly Koreans he succeeded in passing the road block and evacuating the wounded to the aid station. By his initiative and gallantry, Corporal Schuyler saved the lives of his comrades and set an example worthy of emulation. His actions were in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Army.
