The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Sergeant First Class Granville W. Sandridge (ASN: RA-13281065), United States Army, for gallantry in action as a member of Company E, 2d Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division, in action against an armed enemy in Korea. When enemy forces penetrated the forward positions of an infantry company near Ipsok, Korea, on 27 November 1950, Sergeant First Class Sandridge led assault groups through intense hostile fire to intercept the foe. Repeatedly exposing himself to the heavy action he inspired his men to inflict severe casualties on the enemy and repulse the attack. Sergeant First Class Sandridge’s conspicuous courage and exemplary leadership are in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service.
