(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Corporal William H. Sanderson, United States Army, was awarded the Soldier’s Medal for heroism involving voluntary risk of life not involving conflict with an armed enemy, in the Netherlands West Indies, on 20 June 1942. Corporal Sanderson saved the life of a fisherman swept from shore in a heavy surf. The heroism displayed by Corporal Sanderson on this occasion reflects great credit upon himself and the military service.
