The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Sergeant Richard F. Robinson (ASN: RA-17240428), United States Army, for gallantry in action as a member of Company H, 2d Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division, in action against an armed enemy in Korea. On 27 November 1950, the 75-mm. recoilless rifle platoon was helping secure the perimeter of the battalion command post near Ipsok, Korea. Although the enemy was delivering intense, accurate fire from well concealed emplacements on adjacent commanding terrain, Sergeant Robinson moved to an open area from which he could fire with best effect. Having momentarily disrupted the hostile action, he mounted his rifle on the hood of a vehicle and inflicted heavy casualties on the enemy as they resumed the attack. He continued to fire his weapon until he was seriously wounded when the vehicle received a direct hit. By his bold action, gallant determination and selfless devotion to duty, Sergeant Robinson set an example worthy of emulation and reflected great credit upon himself and the Military Service of the United States.
