(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Samuel Tinsley Rhodes, United States Army, was awarded the Silver Star for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action against the enemy while serving with the 1st Cavalry Division in Korea in 1950. With complete disregard for his own safety, he swam a river under enemy machine gun fire and brought the two wounded men to safety. His gallant actions and extreme courage saved the life of a wounded man and reflects great credit upon himself and the military service.
