(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Lieutenant Colonel (Infantry) William Robinson Reilly (ASN: 0-22163), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving as Commanding Officer of the 3d Battalion, 31st Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy in Korea, in 1950. Lieutenant Colonel Reilly distinguished himself by his gallant and aggressive leadership in moving to the front and personally leading his battalion in a courageous counterattack, overpowering the determined enemy force that was overrunning his units position. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Lieutenant Colonel Reilly, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
