The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Private First Class Isauro Ragudo (ASN: US-50000492), United States Army, for gallantry in action as a member of Company K, 3d Battalion, 7th Infantry Regiment, 3d Infantry Division, in action against an armed enemy in Korea. On 28 April 1951, near Uijongbu, Korea, Private Ragudo’s platoon, while occupying a defensive position, was attacked by a large heavily armed enemy force. As the onrushing hostile troops reached a point approximately sixty yards away, Private Ragudo, voluntarily risking his own life, quit his emplacement and attacked the enemy soldiers approaching the fox hole of one of his comrades. In the ensuing close combat, he killed six of the enemy soldiers. Private Ragudo’s daring and impulsive action aided in preventing the enemy from overrunning his platoon and saved the lives of some of his fellow soldiers. By his display of courageous gallantry in action, Private Ragudo reflects the highest credit upon himself and the military service.
