Headquarters, 3d Infantry Division, General Orders No. 114 (April 23, 1951)

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Corporal Murl H. Price (ASN: RA-14328713), United States Army, for gallantry in action as a member of Company G, 2d Battalion, 15th Infantry Regiment, 3d Infantry Division, in action against an armed enemy in Korea. On 31 January 1951, near Umjung-dong, Korea, Company G was moving along the rugged ridgeline toward Hill 425, the battalion objective. The enemy opened up with a heavy stream of fire from three emplaced, strategically located machine guns. The cross fire from these three automatic weapons and other small arms pinned down the platoon, but Corporal Price immediately moved his machine gun across open terrain under enemy fire to place his gun in a position from which he was able to inflict heavy casualties and destroy a machine gun. Once again, Corporal Price moved openly under enemy fire to another position where he destroyed another enemy machine gun emplacement, causing heavy casualties. The conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty displayed by Corporal Price reflects great credit upon himself and the military service.
