Headquarters, 3d Infantry Division, General Orders No. 61 (March 4, 1951)

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Sergeant First Class Jesse C. Price (ASN: RA-6900156), United States Army, for gallantry in action as a member of Company D, 1st Battalion, 15th Infantry Regiment, 3d Infantry Division, in action against an armed enemy in Korea. On 29 November 1950, near Majon-ni, Korea, Sergeant Price was section leader of a machine gun section attached to Company C during an attack. When the leading company was pinned down, Company C was ordered forward to relieve the pressure. As Company C was moving forward, it was pinned down by heavy fire from the front and both flanks. Sergeant Price, with utter disregard for his personal safety, exposed himself to this enemy fire in order to move his section forward to a position from which it could deliver effective fire upon the enemy occupying the high ground. Heedless of the danger involved, Sergeant Price, fully exposed to heavy fire, stood in an upright position to direct the fire of his section. Braving an intense and devastating hail of bullets, he returned a distance of fifty yards to bring ammunition forward to the machine gun. As a result of these heroic actions many wounded personnel were safely evacuated and one or more enemy machine guns knocked out. The gallantry displayed by Sergeant Price on this occasion reflects the highest credit upon himself and the military service.
