The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Corporal Malcolm Powers (ASN: RA-13277286), United States Army, for gallantry in action as a member of the 25th Reconnaissance Company, 25th Infantry Division, in action against an armed enemy in Korea. On 27 November 1950, Corporal Powers was a member of a tank crew providing security for a task force command post in the vicinity of Ipsok, Korea. When the enemy assaulted the position, he became necessary to move the tank to another position. As he moved across open terrain to reach the tank, he was seriously wounded. Undaunted, he continued on and successfully moved the tank. Corporal Powers’ valorous initiative and selfless devotion to duty contributed materially to the repulse of the enemy attack and reflect great credit upon himself and uphold the highest traditions of the Military Service of the United States.
