The President of the United States of America, in the name of Congress, takes pleasure in presenting the Medal of Honor to Second Lieutenant (Cavalry) George Horace Morgan, United States Army, for extraordinary heroism on 17 July 1882, while serving with 3d U.S. Cavalry, in action at Big Dry Fork, Arizona Territory. Second Lieutenant Morgan gallantly held his ground at a critical moment and fired upon the advancing enemy (hostile Indians) until he was disabled by a shot.
