Campbell (ASN: 913943), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company A, 7th Engineers, 5th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, at Romagne, France, 14 October 1918. Sergeant Campbell, on patrol with two other soldiers, captured a machine gun and 13 prisoners, killing two others who tried to escape.
