Headquarters, 2d Infantry Division, General Orders No. 822 (December 6, 1951)

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Sergeant First Class Glynn S. Plybon (ASN: RA-13305609), United States Army, for gallantry in action as a member of Company L, 23d Infantry Regiment, 2d Infantry Division, in action against the enemy on 19 September 1951 in the vicinity of Suim-myon, Korea. On that date Company L was forced to withdraw to more tenable positions due to the fanatical attacks of a numerically superior enemy force. Throughout this movement Sergeant Plybon displayed complete disregard for his own safety as he moved about the fire-swept area treating his wounded comrades and preparing them for evacuation. Although wounded himself, he refused to be evacuated and despite the extreme pain continued in seeking out the wounded. His dauntless courage and selfless devotion to his comrades were an inspiration to all who observed him and his heroic action is credited with having saved many lives. The gallantry in action displayed by Sergeant Plybon on this occasion reflects great credit upon himself and the military service.
