Lieutenant Colonel Ploger led an assault on a French strong-point and exposed himself to hostile fire with utter disregard of his own safety, in order to observe enemy positions. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Lieutenant Colonel Ploger, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
