Headquarters, U.S. Forces, European Theater, General Orders No. 46 (March 29, 1945)

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Sous-Lieutenant Paul A. Pasco, French Army, for gallantry in action behind the enemy lines from 16 June 1944 to 20 August 1944. Sous-Lieutenant Pasco was parachuted into France in civilian clothes as a radio operator for a secret intelligence team. When the Marquis with which he was serving was surrounded, he infiltrated through the enemy lines with the principal radio set and made his way to Questembert. While he attempted to repair his radio which had been damaged, his teammate organized a network at the designated point. Having failed to repair the set, he left it with the Marquis and joined his observer, using a borrowed radio until the repaired set arrived. When allied troops entered the sector, he worked with them as an Intelligence Officer.
