Colonel Pachler set up an observation post in the foremost front lines and directed operations in spite of heavy enemy fire. About 150 rounds of enemy artillery landed in the vicinity of the post, covering it with dirt and debris. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Colonel Pachler, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
