The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to Private First Class Harvey L. Osmon (ASN: 36951554), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Company A, 311th Infantry Regiment, 78th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy on 3 February 1945, in the vicinity of ******, Germany. Machine gun fire in the attack zone of Company A was delaying the advance and threatening flank units which were attempting a river crossing.
