    (Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to First Lieutenant (Infantry) Stanley David Osborne (ASN: 0-62545), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Company L, 3d Battalion, 187th Airborne Regimental Combat Team, 11th Airborne Division, in action in near Kumhwa, Korea, on 16 July 1953. By his gallant action First Lieutenant Osborne was instrumental in ousting a squad of Chinese Communist soldiers from the trenches in hand-to-hand combat, during which he was mortally wounded. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by First Lieutenant Osborne, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
