Headquarters, 25th Infantry Division, General Orders No. 34 (January 19, 1951)

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Sergeant David P. O’Connor (ASN: RA-7071465), United States Army, for gallantry in action as a member of Company G, 2d Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division, in action against an armed enemy in Korea. On 28 November 1950, an enemy guerilla band attempted to infiltrate through the battalion kitchen area near Ipsok, Korea. Obtaining a heavy machine gun, Sergeant O’Connor moved to an advantageous position from which he directed withering fire on the hostile force. When his weapon failed to function, he delivered small arms fire with such effect that the enemy was routed. Sergeant O’Connor’s valorous actions are in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
