The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Sergeant [then Corporal] Clarence Morrison, Jr. (ASN: US-52064638), United States Army, for gallantry in action as a member of Company G, 9th Infantry Regiment, 2d Infantry Division, in action against the enemy on 27 August 1951 in the vicinity of Worun-ni, Korea. On this date Company G had set up defensive positions along a ridge line to halt a coming enemy attack. As the hostile force launched its assault, Sergeant Morrison, with complete disregard for his personal safety, assaulted the oncoming foe. His daring action inspired his men to follow and they descended upon overwhelming odds, inflicting numerous casualties upon them. During the encounter Sergeant Morrison sustained painful wounds but refused to be evacuated for medical aid. He continued to direct his squad in repulsing the attack and remained until the enemy force was completely routed. The gallantry in action displayed by Sergeant Morrison on this occasion reflect great credit upon himself and the military service.
