(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star (Army Award) to Second Lieutenant Donald C. Morgan, United States Air Force, for gallantry in action against the enemy while serving as Pilot of an unarmed T-6 Mosquito Reconnaissance Aircraft of the FIFTH Air Force, in action in Korea, in 1950. Second Lieutenant Morgan directed jet plane support to ground troops while he was acting as an Air Force Liaison Tactician attached to the 23d Infantry Regiment, 2d Infantry Division, from a front-line ground observation pint. As the Air Force representative at Chipyong, he directed Air Force attacks that left many Chinese Communists lying on the hills. During the second night of the attack, Second Lieutenant Morgan supervised an air drop under artillery fire and later helped to pick up the supplies the planes had dropped. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Second Lieutenant Morgan, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
