The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Captain (Medical Corps) Paul Francis Brown, United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with 361st Infantry Regiment (Attached), 91st Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Eclisfontaine, France, September 26 – 27, 1918. Captain Brown voluntarily advanced in front of our lines for the purpose of rescuing the wounded left in advance of the new lines by the retirement of a unit of the regiment. Due to his efforts 14 wounded Americans were brought safely back to our lines.
