The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Private First Class Val T. Molina (ASN: RA-39686243), United States Army, for gallantry in action as a member of Company F, 9th Infantry Regiment, 2d Infantry Division, in action against an armed enemy on 30 November 1950 in the vicinity of Kunu-ri, Korea. On that date his company was fighting its way through an enemy roadblock. During the fierce and bitter fighting Private Molina observed two enemy machine gun emplacements. Under intense enemy fire, he worked his way toward the hostile positions and, engaging them with hand grenades, destroyed both emplacements before the enemy gunners were able to inflict any casualties upon the company. The gallantry displayed by Private Molina reflects great credit upon himself and the military service.
