(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Brigadier General; William Lemuel Mitchell, United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving as Assistant Commanding General, 25th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy in Korea, in 1951. Brigadier General Mitchell’s keen insight and calm demeanor inspired those around him to maximum effort and were decisive factors in enabling the battalion, with minimum casualties, to drive the enemy from a commanding objective. His valorous leadership and notable military ability are in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Army.
