The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Corporal Noah B. Miracle (ASN: RA-15266715), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Company K, 3rd Battalion, 5th Regimental Combat Team, 24th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy near Nan-wyon, Korea, on 28 November 1950. The defensive positions of his company were under concentrated attack by an enemy force in battalion strength. A roadblock of tanks and infantry was overrun, leaving the Company Command Post directly exposed to the enemy advance. Although convalescing from an arm wound received in a previous engagement, Corporal Miracle without hesitation manned a machine gun and opened fie on the enemy. From an exposed position he held the enemy at bay until company headquarters personnel we organized and deployed in necessary positions. During the ensuing four hour engagement, he completely disregarded his own safety to return many times on vital missions to the infiltrated Command Post. Without orders he returned to secure the company radio and accompanies the company commander to new positions on a nearby hill. Organizing a group of men, he led their break and brought out much needed supplies and ammunition. Without further orders he returned, a third time, to assist his supply sergeant in evacuating the company vehicles and supplies, a task that called for prolonged exposure to withering enemy fire. Upon learning that wounded men were still in position at the former roadblock, he moved into that enemy-occupied area and assisted in their evacuation. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Corporal Miracle, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
