The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting a Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster in lieu of a Second Award of the Silver Star to Major (Infantry) Albert Ernest Milloy (ASN: 0-420933/0-35289), United States Army, for gallantry in action as a member of Headquarters, 2d Battalion, 38th Infantry Regiment, 2d Infantry Division, in action on 25 May 1951 in the vicinity of Pangadari, Korea. On that date his Battalion was attacking down a road heavily covered by intense mortar and small arms fire. As the leading elements of his unit came under heavy enemy small arms fire, which opened with surprise from high ground on both sides of the road, the men began to fall back. Major Milloy, exposing himself with complete disregard for his personal safety, quickly steadied his troops, redirected their efforts and eliminated the resistance with minimum losses. While so doing he was painfully wounded but continued to command his unit and did not report for medical treatment until ordered to do so. The gallantry and outstanding leadership displayed by Major Milloy reflect great credit upon himself and the military service.

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting a Second Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster in lieu of a Third Award of the Silver Star to Major (Infantry) Albert Ernest Milloy (ASN: 0-420933/0-35289), United States Army, for gallantry in action as Commanding Officer, 2d Battalion, 38th Infantry Regiment, 2d Infantry Division, in action on 25 May 1951 in the vicinity of Hyon-ni, Korea. His Battalion was attacking a numerically superior enemy force offering stubborn resistance from well dug-in positions. Due to long combat exposure, the troops were extremely tired and the attacks bogged down. Major Milloy realized the seriousness of delay and unhesitatingly moved to the lead of the battalion. Moving from man to man, Major Milloy constantly exposed himself to the enemy fire at close range. Through painfully wounded in the arm, he courageously continued to lead the attack and fire is own weapon. Inspired by his determined leadership, the battalion resumed the attack and finally succeeded in repulsing the enemy with heavy losses. Major Milloy himself did not submit to medical aid until ordered to do so by the Assistant Division Commander. The gallantry displayed by Major Milloy reflects great credit upon himself and the military service. Headquarters, 82d Airborne Division, General Orders No. 129 (October 24, 1945)The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Captain (Infantry) Albert Ernest Milloy (ASN: 0-420933/0-35289), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Company C, 1st Battalion, 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82d Airborne Division, in action on 30 January 1944, five miles west of ****, Italy. Given the mission of seizing a prime objective on the beachhead, Captain Milloy, commanding the lead company, led his command through a heavy barrage of mortar and artillery fire and seized positions on the **** Canal. He made frequent trips along the bank under observed fire of the enemy to insure thorough preparation for the inevitable counterattack which came and broke through the position. Captain Milloy quickly organized an assault platoon out of the headquarters and mortar personnel and led it in an attack through heavy machine gun and rifle fire and drove the enemy out. His courageous conduct and inspiring leadership set an example for his men in an action which contributed materially to the success of the beachhead operation. Captain Milloy’s gallantry reflects credit on the United States Airborne Forces.

General Milloy was the driving force behind the many successes attained by SIXTH Army during these critical years and his remarkable leadership and seasoned ability stabilized its course in the face of every challenge. His untiring efforts, keen judgment and dedication to excellence served as an example, not only to the men of his command, but Army Reserves and Guardsmen throughout the five states of Region IX. He has performed an extraordinary and predominant role in the successful implementation of the STEADFAST concept within SIXTH Army, and established precedents which have shaped the course of Army-wide support for Reserve Components.
