The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Sergeant Albert B. Brookshire (ASN: 1305450), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company B, 113th Machine-Gun Battalion, 30th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near La Salle River, France, October 16 – 19, 1918. In addition to performing his duties as Gas non-commissioned officer, Sergeant Brookshire, on five occasions, volunteered and successfully delivered important messages, passing through intense enemy fire, from his company to the advanced positions in the front line.
