During the advance on Waegwan, the Naktong River crossing and the ensuing pursuit of the enemy, Brigadier General Meyer was continuously present with both infantry and his own artillery unit commanders in the forward area. With complete disregard for his own safety he frequently exposed himself to intense enemy artillery, machine gun and small arms fire in order to better direct the employment of his command and to provide the maximum artillery support for the attack. His gallant actions were an inspiration to his command, greatly influenced the success of this most important operation and reflect the greatest credit on himself and the United States Army.
