The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Sergeant Edward J. Brock (ASN: 2265853), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Supply Company, 364th Infantry Regiment, 91st Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Wortegen, Belgium, 3 November 1918. While his wagon train was being heavily shelled, Sergeant Brock was severely wounded and his horse killed. He refused, however, to be evacuated, and mounting another horse led the train to a location where it was safely parked.
