The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Brigadier General John K. McCormick (ASN: 0-31982), United States Army, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished services to the Government of the United States, in a duty of great responsibility, during the period from November 1962 through August 1968. [This award supersedes award of the Legion of Merit (Second Oak Leaf Cluster) awarded to General McCormick by the Commanding General, EIGHTH United States Army, under the provisions of paragraph 7, AR 672-5-1, for meritorious service during the period June 1966 to June 1968.]
