The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to Technical Sergeant William D. McClintock, United States Army, for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action against an armed enemy while serving with Company A, 741st Tank Battalion, 2d Infantry Division, in action against the enemy on 6 June 1944, at Normandy, France. Technical Sergeant McClintock’s outstanding gallantry and devotion to duty are in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflects great credit upon himself, the 2d Infantry Division, and the United States Army.
