The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Sergeant [then Corporal] Antonio Martin, United States Army, for gallantry in action as a member of Headquarters Battery, 91st Coast Artillery (Philippine Scouts), in action during the action on Corregidor, Philippine Islands, between December 1941 and April 1942. On at least two occasions, driving through intense artillery fire and bombing, Sergeant Martin took seriously wounded men to the hospital.
