The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Corporal Abraham Margosian (ASN: US-56147136), United States Army, for gallantry in action as a member of Company G, 9th Infantry Regiment, 2d Infantry Division, in action against the enemy on 8 October 1951 in the vicinity of Sadanggol, Korea. On this date during an attack on heavily fortified enemy positions, Company G encountered intense hostile resistance. Despite the fact, Corporal Margosian, an automatic rifleman, steadily advanced toward the enemy. When a sudden burst of hostile machine gun fire threatened the safety of his unit, he exposed himself to the enemy in order to draw his fire away from the friendly troops. With an accurate counter fire Corporal Margosian killed several enemy soldiers, neutralizing their emplacement and enabling his unit to continue the assault. Remaining in his advanced and exposed position he encouraged his comrades forward and was highly responsible for the success of his unit in this engagement. The gallantry in action displayed by Corporal Margosian on this occasion reflects great credit upon himself and the military service.
