(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918 (amended by an act of July 25, 1963), takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to Corporal Samuel D. Lovette (ASN: RA-12814041), United States Army, for gallantry in action while engaged in military operations involving conflict with an armed hostile force while serving with Company C, 1st Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division, in action against an enemy force in the Republic of Vietnam on 30 April 1969. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
