The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Corporal Moises G. Loquiao (ASN: RA-39107017), United States Army, for gallantry in action as a member of Company G, 38th Infantry Regiment, 2d Infantry Division, in action against an armed enemy on 6 September 1950 in the vicinity of Am-Sin, Korea. On this date, his company was attacking with the mission of taking Hill 283. When the advance of his platoon had been nearly stopped by automatic weapons and grenade fire and the success of the attack was in doubt, he voluntarily left the comparative safety of his position, and in the face of the intense enemy fire, single-handedly assaulted the enemy position, firing his rifle and hurling hand grenades as he dashed forward in an effort to rout the enemy. His undaunted courage and fearless charge inspired his comrades to continue the attack. Later in the attack, he assisted in the evacuation of wounded despite the face that the entire area was under grenade fire. His heroic actions were highly instrumental in the accomplishment of his company’s mission and the prevention of more serious casualties. The gallantry displayed on this occasion by Corporal Loquiao reflects great credit upon himself and is in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service.
