Headquarters, 2d Infantry Division, General Orders No. 114 (May 21, 1951)

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Sergeant First Class Clifford Logan (ASN: RA-34211647), United States Army, for gallantry in action as a member of Company F, 23d Infantry Regiment, 2d Infantry Division, in action against an armed enemy on 15 February 1951 in the vicinity of Chipyong-ni, Korea. Company G had attacked well-entrenched enemy positions and, meeting heavy fire, was forced to withdraw. During the withdrawal Sergeant Logan, who was in a covered position, observed several wounded men who were lying under the intense hostile fire. With complete disregard for his personal safety he dashed through the fire which was striking all about him and dragged one of the wounded soldiers to the safety of the defilade position. He repeated his trip into the enemy field of fire until all wounded men in his vicinity had been removed to safety. The gallantry and devotion to his fallen comrades displayed by Sergeant Logan reflect the highest credit upon himself are in keeping with the fine traditions of the military service.
